Here are some more shots from a recent expedition to Cape Schanck National Park around 1 ½ hours drive from Melbourne. This is a great location for a wander offering opportunities for the keen photographer. I remember a few years ago hearing an interview on the radio with world famous singer Tony Bennett who, with Canadian singer K. D. Lang, was on a concert tour of Australia. Apparently Mr. Bennett paints everyday and, on a scheduled day off, he and K.D. visited Cape Schanck. With a painter’s understanding of light and color it’s no wonder he spoke so highly of the location.

I’d only visited Cape Schanck on two previous occasions. Both days were extremely windy which limited exploration. This latest visit was far better making me want to return for a sunset shoot.

The images in today’s post were all made under bright sunlight during the early afternoon. I employed a polarizing filter to help reduce the negative aspects of the bright, direct overhead sun. After initial processing Adobe Lightroom 2 was utilized to render the images into black-and-white. A few final touches were applied in Adobe Photoshop CS4.

As I was there primarily to teach it was unlikely that I’d return with extraordinary images. Nevertheless, it was a great day out with two really smart and positive people. I look forward to returning.
