I rarely shoot at high ISO's. In fact its very rare for me to photograph at ISO 800. Higher than that would be almost unheard of. But, with darkness descending at Marina Beach Chennai in South East India I had no choice. I had been lugging my Canon 580EXII flash around with me for most of the trip. So naturally the day I needed it I'd decided to leave it behind at the hotel. It had been playing up and I hadn't been able to sort out the problem.
When I met these two beggar kids, in near darkness, I knew I had little chance of being able to record a decent image. But they were so incredibly cute. Their big, bright eyes and exotic appearance were too much to resist. So, while these images are a little unsharp and, to my mind, exhibit unacceptable noise they are still good memories of the meeting.
