River Transport U-Beins Bridge Myanmar

A farmer bringing his ox-driven cart across a river in Myanmar. Leica M6 camera and Leica 35mm f2 Summicron-M lens with Kodak Ektachrome 100 Extra Color film. Here's a photo, made with warm, early morning light of a farmer moving his ox-driven cart through a river crossing in Myanmar (Burma).

I had traveled from Mandalay to U-Beins Bridge to photograph the sunrise with my Hasselblad 503Ci medium format camera. It was a great location and one of the best photography sessions I've ever experienced. I made numerous landscape images with which I'm very happy.

Towards the end of the shoot I noticed this event unfolding below me. From the bridge it was simply a matter of using the Leica M6 to record the farmer's journey as he passed below me. My elevated viewpoint gave me a great perspective which allowed me to show much more detail than would have been the case if the picture had been made from ground (water) level.

A straightforward image of what, for a westerner, is unusual subject matter. Add to that the birds eye viewpoint, from which the image was made, and the result is an interesting image. Easy!
