Well, I couldn't be happier! I'm very pleased to announce my new India Photography Collection. You can visit online and have a look at the collection by clicking HERE

There's More to Come

The images were made during a short and intensive eleven day trip to Kolkata (i.e., Calcutta) and Chennai (i.e., Madras). The thirty images in this collection will be built on over coming weeks/months and I may end up by doubling the amount of photos in the collection by the time I get through the many hours required to process them.

India is Not for the Faint Hearted

It was a successful trip, although I became terribly ill upon leaving Kolkata. The initial event occurred just as I entered the airport complex and several more followed before I finally bordered the plane. I spent the next few days in bed, in a very ordinary hotel in Chennai during which time I lost five kilograms. And that was despite around 5 liters of water a day, loads of medication and electrolytes. Yikes!

You like Tomatoes, I like Potatoes

While Kolkata is a pretty depressing place, having missed much of the so-called economic miracle that's swept through other large Indian cities, it's not without beauty and a measure of the sublime found in the faces of young and old alike. I really enjoyed photographing there.

Chennai is a much more prosperous city with a much more pleasant climate. Blue skies seem to prevail there and the city is in a better stage of repair than Kolkata. Interestingly much of Kolkata's unique charm, at least for visitors like me, is within its decay and the remnants of the British Raj.

Navigating the Collection

The link I provided will take you to a page where you'll see the thirty images displayed as thumbnails in a grid pattern. Simply click on the first thumbnail to enlarge that photo. From there it's a simple matter of using the arrow on the right or left of the screen to move forwards or backwards through the collection. To learn more about a particular photo just hover your mouse over it to reveal a few lines of added text.

I really hope you enjoy these photos from my India Photography Collection. I'll be adding more over time. Even better other photography collections on this site will be updated during January and a number of other new galleries will  be added to this site over coming weeks and months.

Can I Ask You for a Favor

Finally, could I ask you to spread the word about this site and/or my new India Photography Collection. It's all about spreading the beauty of our world and its people to an ever wider audience. You'll feel good when you do.
