Red Square at Sunset, Moscow, Russia

Warm sunset light illuminates the Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral in Red Square, Moscow.

Now here's a special place. Red Square, on a balmy summer evening, in early August was certainly a highlight on my first trip to Europe.

Capital cities are always showcases of a country's history and grandeur. Moscow's Red Square is no exception and St. Basil's Cathedral is the jewel in that cities crown.

The Dance Of Light At Days End

This photo was made at sunset with the aid of warm, soft light illuminating the cathedral.

The cool blue of the sky shows rain clouds on the way and it's the contrast between the warm and cool colors that really bring the scene to life.

Duality Reins Supreme In Red Square

It's amazing just how beautiful St. Basil's Cathedral really is. The intricately shaped columns and domes really soften what is otherwise the beautiful, yet quite austere Red Square.

It's a dash of the sublime, a touch of grace within an otherwise hard environment.

What a great example of how balance and harmony are achieved through the contrast of opposites.

Needless to say a trip to Russia is incomplete without a visit to Moscow. And a visit to Moscow will most certainly be incomplete without at least one exploration of the wonders around the amazing Red Square.

Why not organize your travel schedule so that it includes at least one long, warm summer’s evening in Russia’s vibrant capital city?

I'm glad I did and it's likely I'II plan my next visit to Moscow around the very same time of year. Perhaps I'II see you there.
